MELBOURNE - Jan 22/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system lies over the interior of the state and should weaken into a surface trough over the interior by Saturday. An upper level low pressure system that lies over the interior will drift to the southeast and weaken. Forecast for the rest of FridayShowers, rain areas and storms from the Capricornia down to the southeast, and extending inland to the southern interior. A medium to high chance of showers and storms over the northern tropics, and a slight to medium chance over the southern coastal tropics, central interior and southern interior. Fine and sunny over the far west.Saturday 24 JanuaryA surface trough over the interior should allow showers and storms to form over much of Queensland, with activity more likely about the eastern districts. Fine and mostly sunny over most of the western interior.Sunday 25 JanuaryA broad area of low pressure may lie across central Queensland, and a broad upper trough may lie across the southern interior. Both weather systems may work together to produce showers and storms across most of the state, though it should be fine and clear over the western interior, and there should be just the chance of showers and storms about the southeast.Monday 26 JanuaryShowers and storms over the east of the state and throughout the tropics, and also about the southern interior districts. Remaining fine and mostly sunny in the west.Tuesday until ThursdayShowers and storms may become more likely over the southern interior towards the middle of the week as a low deepens over the interior, but it is difficult to be confident of this forecast this far in advance.
