Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 22/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad low pressure trough extends from northern Australia into western New South Wales. During Saturday and Sunday the trough will move to the northeast as a cold front passes across the south of the state. Behind the front a high pressure system will move towards Tasmania on Monday extending a ridge to the north coast. The trough is then expected to move back over the western parts of the state.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdaySlight to medium chance of showers in eastern parts increasing to high on the northern half of the coast. Possible local heavy falls on the north coast. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. East to northeasterly winds in the east, tending southeasterly in the west.Friday 23 JanuaryMedium to high chance of showers over much of the state. The chance of thunderstorms. East to northeasterly winds, becoming north to northwesterly across the southern inland.Saturday 24 JanuarySlight to medium chance of showers increasing to high over the central inland and the southeast. Thunderstorms mostly over the northwest and southeast. East to northeasterly winds turning southwesterly in the southwest later.Sunday 25 JanuaryMedium to high chance of showers in the eastern parts with the chance of thunderstorms. Partly cloudy in the far west. Light northeast to northwest winds ahead of a southwest change extending from the southwest.Monday 26 JanuaryMedium to high chance of showers along the coast and over the northeast. Chance of thunderstorms over the northeast. Fine in the southwest. Southwest to southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Friday.Product IDN10031
