Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 21/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system lies over the south Tasman Sea and is moving slowly further east. A low pressure system over southern Queensland extends a developing trough into northwestern Victoria. The trough will move to central Victoria by tonight where it will weaken. A weakening front will move across most of the State on Friday, and remain slow moving over eastern Victoria on Saturday. A stronger front will approach western Victoria late on Saturday, introducing cooler southwesterly winds to Victoria on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over central and eastern districts clearing in the evening. Dry over the west. Light winds and easing coastal seabreezes.Thursday 22 JanuaryA dry and mostly sunny morning but the chance of afternoon showers over southern areas, particularly on the ranges. Warm to very warm and humid with mainly light winds but milder southwesterly winds extending into the west.Fire Danger -  Generally high.Friday 23 JanuaryWarm to hot and humid in the north and east. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing across most eastern and northern areas. A milder southwesterly change developing over the west and south.Saturday 24 JanuaryWarm to hot in the north but milder in the south. Showers and local thunderstorms across the east and isolated showers about the coast. Generally fine over the western inland. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Sunday 25 JanuaryIsolated showers extending across southern and mountain districts, clearing later afternoon. Cool to mild in the south, mild to warm along the northern border. Moderate southwesterly winds extending throughout.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
