MELBOURNE - Jan 20/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high over the Tasman sea is moving slowly eastwards. A trough of low pressure over eastern districts is moving eastwards, and will move to the east of the State by early Wednesday. A high pressure ridge will form over the Bight on Wednesday, and remain near stationary on Thursday and Friday, although a weak front will move to the south overnight on Thursday. Another front will approach southern coasts later Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayThe slight chance of showers about the eastern border till evening. The chance of evening showers developing over the agricultural area west of about Adelaide to Clare, more likely south of about Cleve to Ceduna. Cool to mild in the south grading to hot in the far north. Moderate northerly winds near the eastern border, with fresh southwest to southerly winds over the remainder. Southerly winds strong at times over the Pastoral and Flinders districts with areas of raised dust.Wednesday 21 JanuaryThe slight chance of showers over the agricultural area expect in the east. Showers more likely near the Gulf Waters coasts. Showers clearing throughout in the afternoon. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh southerly winds.Thursday 22 JanuaryFine apart from the slight chance of showers late evening about the Lower South East coast and southwest coast of Kangaroo Island. Warm in the south grading to hot in the north and west. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Friday 23 JanuaryThe slight chance of morning showers near southern and western coasts. The chance of showers and possible thunder in the afternoon over the Flinders and North East Pastoral districts south of about Marree. Mild in the south grading to hot in the north. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Saturday 24 January The slight chance of showers near southern coasts and in the far northwest. Fine over the remainder apart from the chance of showers and possible thunder in the afternoon over the North East Pastoral south of about Moomba. Mild in the south grading to hot in the north with mainly moderate southwest to southerly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Saturday are expected to be generally less than 2 mm. Sunday until TuesdayThe slight chance of showers over the southern agricultural area, contracting to southern coasts during Monday, clearing Tuesday afternoon. Mild in the south grading to warm to hot in the north.
