MELBOURNE - Jan 19/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over Tasmania will move eastwards across the southern Tasman Sea on Tuesday. On Tuesday, a trough of low pressure will cross South Australia, reaching western Victoria late in the day. The trough will move to eastern Victoria by Wednesday evening where it is likely to remain on Thursday and Friday. A weakening cold front is likely to pass just south of Victoria on Friday morning. Forecast for the rest of MondayFine. A cool to mild evening with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh about parts of the coast.Tuesday 20 JanuaryCloud increasing from the west during the morning with showers developing over most areas during the afternoon and evening. Local afternoon and evening thunderstorms over central and eastern districts. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh northeast to northerly winds in the morning, easing during the afternoon and becoming variable by the evening.Fire Danger - Generally high.Wednesday 21 JanuaryCloudy periods with areas of rain over central and eastern districts easing and contracting to the far east late in the day. Isolated thunderstorms in the east, clearing. Mainly dry over the west. Generally warm and humid with light to moderate northeast to easterly winds.Thursday 22 JanuaryA dry and mostly sunny morning but the chance of afternoon showers over central and eastern areas, particularly on the ranges. Warm to very warm inland with mainly light winds but milder afternoon sea breezes on the coastal fringe.Friday 23 JanuaryWarm and humid in the east with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing. Milder in the south and west with isolated showers south of the ranges but dry conditions over the northwest.
