MELBOURNE - Jan 19/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high centred to the west of Tasmania extends a ridge along the New South Wales coast in the wake of a trough, which has stalled near the Queensland border. The high will move to the Tasman Sea this evening, directing warm and increasingly humid winds into a trough over the state's west. A low pressure centre is expected to develop near the northwest corner later Tuesday and Wednesday, then remain very slow moving through the rest of the week. In combination with the Tasman Sea high, this pattern should assist in the generation of showers or rain across most central and eastern districts. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayShowers and isolated thunderstorms in the east, locally heavy on the north coast. The chance of showers in central parts during the afternoon and evening. Generally dry but cloudy in the far west. Early fog patches about the ranges. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, freshening in the south, tending northwest to northeasterly elsewhere.Wednesday 21 JanuaryShowers or areas of rain in central and eastern districts, with the chance of thunderstorms. Fine in the west. North to northeasterly winds in the east, tending southeast to southwesterly in the west.Thursday 22 JanuaryShowers or areas of rain in the east, and the northwest slopes. The chance of showers across most other central districts. Fine in the west. East to northeast winds in the east, tending southeasterly in the west.Friday 23 JanuaryThe chance of showers in most areas except the far west. Showers most likely near the coast and the southeastern inland, with possible thunderstorms. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Tuesday.Product IDN10031 Notice Board Rainfall Forecast Terminology Changes to Marine Wind Warnings Media Releases Marketing Meteorological Offices Cobar weather Coffs Harbour weather Lord Howe Island weather Moree weather Norfolk Island weather Wagga Wagga weather Other Information Fire Weather Forecast Areas Marine Reference Points Severe Thunderstorms in New South Wales Severe Weather in New South Wales Air pollution services for Sydney About Weather Forecast Services About Warning Services Warnings Water Climate Environment Tropical Cyclones Tsunami Warning Centre Agriculture - Water and the Land Marine & Ocean UV & Sun Protection Rainfall & River Conditions Graphical Views Radar Maps Rainfall Forecasts Seasonal Outlooks Climate Variability & Change Climate Data Online Seasonal Streamflow Forecasts Water Storage MetEye™ National Weather Services Aviation Weather Services Defence Services Space Weather Services Registered User Services Commercial Weather Services Business Entry Point Facebook Google+ Youtube Blog Careers Sitemap Feedback Freedom of Information Indigenous Weather Knowledge Glossary This page was created at 17:45 on Monday 19 January 2015 (GMT) © Copyright Commonwealth of Australia 2015, Bureau of Meteorology (ABN 92 637 533 532) | Disclaimer | Privacy | Accessibility var hostname = window.location.hostname; var host = hostname.split("."); if (host[0] == "reg") var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-20386085-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); else if (host[0] == "wdev") var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-21709175-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); else var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-3816559-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ?
