MELBOURNE - Jan 18/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system south of the Bight and extends a ridge to western Victoria, while a deep low pressure system is moving away across the southern Tasman Sea. The high will be centred just to the southwest of Victoria tonight then will continue to move eastwards on Monday, passing to the south of Victoria. The high will reach the Tasman Sea by Tuesday. The next cold front will enter western Victoria late on Tuesday and then move across the remainder of the State on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayMostly cloudy in the south this morning with isolated showers, then a dry although partly cloudy afternoon. Dry and mostly sunny in the north. A cool to mild day with moderate south to southwesterly winds, fresh at times about the coast and ranges.Fire Danger - High in the north.Monday 19 JanuaryDry apart from isolated afternoon showers about the far eastern ranges. Mild in the south, warm in the north with light to moderate southeast to easterly winds, fresh in the afternoon near the coast.Tuesday 20 JanuaryIsolated showers developing from the west, extending to central and northern areas in the evening. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a cooler southwesterly change entering the west later.Wednesday 21 JanuaryCloudy periods with scattered showers and the chance of a thunderstorm in the east. Partly cloudy with isolated showers elsewhere on and south of the divide, mostly clearing during the day. Partly cloudy but fine over the northwest.
