MELBOURNE - Jan 18/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A southerly change is expected to extend north along the coast during the day, reaching the far north early Monday. A high is expected to move through Bass Strait in the wake of the front, reaching the southern Tasman Sea late Monday and extending a ridge along the New South Wales coast. As the high moves further east on Tuesday winds should tend more east to northeasterly over most of the state. A trough of low pressure is expected to move across the west on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayMedium chance of showers or drizzle developing on the coast and adjacent ranges later today or tonight. The chance of thunderstorms about the north coast and adjacent ranges. Fine and partly cloudy west of the Divide. Southeast to southwesterly winds.Fire Danger - Very High in the Northern Slopes and North Western Fire AreasMonday 19 JanuaryMedium to high chance of showers in the east, clearing from the south later in the day. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Fine and partly cloudy in the west. South to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 20 JanuaryHigh to very high chance of showers in the northeast with the chance of thunderstorms. Medium chance of showers on the south and central coasts and ranges. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Wednesday 21 JanuaryHigh chance of showers with the chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Medium chances on the remainder of the coast and ranges as well as the western slopes. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere.
