Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 17/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system is located south of the Bight and extends a ridge to western Victoria, while a deep low pressure system is moving away across the southern Tasman Sea. The high will move eastwards towards west Bass Strait on Sunday, passing to the south of Victoria on Monday to reach the Tasman Sea by Tuesday. The next cold front will enter western Victoria late on Tuesday and then move across the remainder of the State on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayPartly cloudy in the south with isolated showers about the exposed parts of the coast. Dry and clear over the remainder. Moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong along the coastal fringe.Sunday 18 JanuaryCloudy periods south of the divided with isolated showers, mainly near the coast and clearing during the morning. Dry and mostly sunny in the north. A cool to mild day with moderate south to southwesterly winds, fresh at times.Fire Danger -  High Fire danger in the north.Monday 19 JanuaryDry apart from isolated afternoon showers in the far east ranges. Mild in the south, warm in the north with light to moderate southeast to easterly winds, fresh in the afternoon near the coast.Tuesday 20 JanuaryIsolated showers developing from the west, extending to central and northern areas in the evening. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a cooler southwesterly change entering the west later.Wednesday 21 JanuaryCloudy periods with scattered showers and the chance of a thunderstorm in the east. Partly cloudy with isolated showers elsewhere on and south of the divide, mostly clearing during the day. Partly cloudy but fine over the northwest. Very warm in the east with fresh to strong north to northwest winds but milder, fresh and gusty southwest winds extending throughout.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Sunday.Product IDV10310
