MELBOURNE - Jan 16/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure lies across the south of the State. A cold front is expected to move over the Lower South East district this evening, with a southerly change extending northwards into the south of the pastoral districts on Friday afternoon and evening. A high will move eastwards to the south of the State during the weekend, then over the Tasman Sea on Monday and Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayThe slight chance of showers in the Lower South East, extending over the south coast of Kangaroo Island later this evening. Mild about southern coasts, grading to hot in the west and far north. Light winds, becoming moderate to fresh west to southwesterly in the south, and fresh and gusty southerly in the far west in the evening, possibly producing areas of raised dust.Saturday 17 JanuaryEarly fog patches over the Mid North and Eyre Peninsula. The slight chance of light showers over windward coasts of the southern agricultural area, clearing during the afternoon. Mild near the coasts grading to hot in the far north. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh at times near the coasts.Sunday 18 JanuaryThe slight chance of light morning showers near southern coasts and southeastern districts. Mild near the coasts grading to hot in the north. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, freshening near the coasts in the afternoon.Monday 19 JanuaryFine. Warm to hot. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, becoming moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly in the far west in the evening.Tuesday 20 January Fine. Hot to very hot. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, becoming moderate to fresh northerly ahead of a milder southerly change extending across western parts during the morning then reaching central and eastern districts by evening. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Tuesday are expected to be up to 1 mm over the southern agricultural area, reaching 2 mm in the Lower South East. Wednesday until FridayThe chance of showers developing over the southern agricultural area and parts of the West Coast on Wednesday and Thursday, more likely about the southern coasts on Thursday then easing later on Friday.
