Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 14/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure centre is situated to the east of Tasmania, with an associated trough extending in to northeast New South Wales. The trough will continue eastwards across the Tasman Sea tonight and Thursday, while a weak high pressure ridge develops over the state's west. This ridge will promote generally fine weather west of the Divide over the coming days, with any shower activity restricted to areas near the coast.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayShowers and possible thunderstorms in the northeast, easing during the evening. The chance of showers about the southwest slopes and adjacent areas. Northerly winds in the northeast, with west to southwesterly winds extending across the remainder.Thursday 15 JanuaryThe chance of showers east of the Divide, chiefly near the coast. The chance of an early thunderstorm on the far north coast. Fine and partly cloudy west of the Divide. Southeast to southwesterly winds.Friday 16 JanuaryThe chance of showers near the coast, mainly morning. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. West to southwesterly winds inland, and east to northeasterly wind near the coast.Saturday 17 JanuaryFine and mostly sunny, apart from the chance of late showers on the south coast. West to southwesterly winds inland, and northeast to southeasterly winds near the coast.Sunday 18 JanuaryThe chance of showers east of the Divide, chiefly near the coast. Possible thunderstorms about the far north coast. Fine and partly cloudy west of the Divide.
