Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 12/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge towards the New South Wales coast via a weakening offshore trough, directing warm and humid air into a broad low pressure trough that extends into the northeast of the state from central Australia, and another trough approaching from the west with an associated deepening low in response to an approaching upper-level system. The low and the trough are expected to cross the state during today and Wednesday bringing rain to the most districts.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayRain in most districts, mainly in the west at first then extending eastwards during the day and clearing from the far west later. A few showers over parts of the coast in the morning. Isolated thunderstorms over the northwest, possibly severe. Northeast to northwesterly winds turning west to southwesterly in the far west later in the day.Wednesday 14 JanuaryRain over the eastern half contracting to the northeast by the afternoon. Showers persisting on and west of ranges over the southern half. Isolated thunderstorms over the northeast. Fresh northeast to northwest winds ahead of a west to southwest change spreading through the west and south.Thursday 15 JanuaryIsolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges. Chance of isolated early morning thunderstorms on the far north coast. Fine west of the Divide. South to southwesterly winds.Friday 16 JanuaryIsolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges. Fine west of the Divide. Southwest to southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Tuesday.Product IDN10031
