Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 12/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough extends across eastern districts to a weak low near Kangaroo Island in the evening. This low will then deepen as it interacts with an upper trough today as it moves southeastwards to be over Bass Strait by this evening and the Tasman Sea on Wednesday. A ridge of high pressure will extend over the south of the state on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayAreas of early rain near the eastern border south of Renmark. The chance of morning showers east of about Moomba to Port Augusta to Ceduna, more likely about the ranges and over the southern agricultural area. Showers contracting to the southern agricultural area by the afternoon. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, tending south to southeasterly in the west in the evening. Winds fresh to strong at times about the Mount Lofty Ranges and in the south.Wednesday 14 JanuaryThe chance of showers about the agricultural area, more likely about the South East districts as well as the southern half of Kangaroo Island. Mild to warm, hot in the far northwest. Moderate to fresh southeast to southwest winds, strong at times about southern coasts in the morning.Thursday 15 JanuaryThe chance of showers over the Lower South East, Kangaroo Island, Yorke Peninsula, Mount Lofty Ranges and the east coast of Eyre Peninsula. Mild to warm, hot in the far northwest. Moderate south to southeasterly winds, tending east to northeasterly in the far west.Friday 16 January
The chance of showers about the southern coasts. Mild in the southern coasts, warm to hot elsewhere. Moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds about the central and southeastern districts, tending light and variable about about the Northeast Pastoral. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds elsewhere.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Friday are expected to be 5 to 10 mm over the southeast, 2 to 5 mm over the remainder of the southern agricultural area and up to 2 mm elsewhere. Isolated falls of up to 10 mm are also possible over the Mount Lofty Ranges.
Saturday until MondayThe chance of showers about the coastal regions on Saturday and Sunday, confining to the southern coasts on Monday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Tuesday.Product IDS10033
