Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 12/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over South Australia will deepen overnight and during Tuesday as it moves eastwards into Victoria. An associated low pressure centre will be near Portland Tuesday night, then will move to the southeast of Tasmania on Wednesday. The next ridge of high pressure will extend across Bight waters towards northern Victoria on Thursday. A cold front over the Southern Ocean will pass across Tasmania and Bass Strait on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayDry over most of the State, but rain extending into the far west tonight. Fresh east to southeasterly winds near the coast and generally light to moderate northeasterly winds inland.Tuesday 13 JanuaryA band of rain and isolated thunderstorms with local heavy falls extending eastwards across the State reaching the far southeast late afternoon. Rain clearing from the northwest by midday with only isolated showers to follow. Fresh northeasterly winds, shifting west to northwesterly over western districts during the day.Fire Danger -  Generally high in the west.Wednesday 14 JanuaryA medium chance of showers in the southwest, also over west Gippsland and about the eastern ranges. Slight chance of light showers for the remainder. Generally cool to mild with fresh southwesterly winds gradually extending throughout.Thursday 15 JanuaryA medium chance of showers in the south, mainly near exposed coastal parts. Slight chance of light showers or drizzle for remaining areas on and south of the Divide. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day in the south, warmer and mainly sunny in the north, with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds throughout.Friday 16 JanuarySlight chance of showers over southern districts, but dry over the north. A mild and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh westerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Tuesday.Product IDV10310
