Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 12/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough is extending across the central and eastern districts. A weak low embedded in this trough will develop further near Kangaroo Island in the evening. This low will then deepen as it interacts with an upper trough overnight tonight and into Tuesday as it moves southeastwards to be over Bass Strait by Tuesday evening.
Forecast for the rest of MondayAreas of rain about the central and eastern parts of the State, with a chance of showers elsewhere apart from the far northwest. The chance of isolated thunderstorms east of about Oodnadatta to Woomera to Neptune Island, but more likely north of Renmark. Mild to warm, hot in the very far northeast. Moderate southeast to northeast winds, shifting west to southwesterly in the west during the day.Tuesday 13 JanuaryAreas of rain east of Leigh Creek to Port Augusta, turning into showers during the morning. Also chance of showers west of about Oodnadatta to Tarcoola to Nullarbor, more likely east of Woomera to Streaky Bay. Showers contracting to the agricultural area by the afternoon. The chance of thunderstorms in the east early in the morning contracting to the far northeast later during the morning, clearing by the afternoon. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, tending south to southeasterly in the west in the evening. Winds strong at times about the southern coasts and the Mount Lofty Ranges.Wednesday 14 JanuaryThe chance of showers about the agricultural area, more likely about the South East districts as well as the southern half of Kangaroo Island. Mild to warm, hot in the far northwest. Moderate to fresh southeast to southwest winds, strong at times about southern coasts in the morning.Thursday 15 JanuaryThe chance of showers over the Lower South East, Kangaroo Island, Yorke Peninsula, Mount Lofty Ranges and the east coast of Eyre Peninsula. Mild to warm, hot in the far northwest. Moderate south to southeasterly winds, tending east to northeasterly in the far west.Friday 16 January
The chance of showers about the southern coasts. Mild in the southern coasts, warm to hot elsewhere. Moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds about the central and southeastern districts, tending light and variable about about the Northeast Pastoral. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds elsewhere.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Friday are expected to be 15 to 35 mm east of a line Leigh Creek to Port Augusta to Neptune Island, with possible local falls to 50 mm. 2 to 10 mm is likely further west but east of Oodnadatta to Streaky Bay and over the Nullabor Plain. Up to 2 mm is expected elsewhere.
Saturday until MondayThe chance of showers about the coastal regions on Saturday and Sunday, confining to the southern coasts on Monday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Tuesday.Product IDS10033
