Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 11/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge extends across the south of Tasmania. A low pressure system over central Australia will deepen and move southward, crossing western parts of Victoria during Tuesday then moving across Tasmania on Wednesday. A ridge of high pressure will build from the west later on Wednesday into Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers about inland parts of Gippsland clearing tonight. Fine and dry for the remainder. Light to moderate east to southeasterly winds, fresher about the coast.Monday 12 JanuaryPatchy rain developing in the far west later in the evening. Fine and dry for the remainder, mainly sunny apart from increasing high cloud in the west during the day. A warm day, humid in the northwest. Moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds tending more northeasterly inland during the day.Fire Danger -  Low-moderate in the east, generally high remainder.Tuesday 13 JanuaryAreas of rain and the chance of thunderstorms extending from the northwest in the morning, reaching the far east in the evening. Rain easing to showers from the west, clearing the northwest during the afternoon. Generally moderate falls expected, with the chance of isolated heavy falls in the northwest. Fresh and gusty north to northeasterly winds, shifting west to northwesterly during the day.Wednesday 14 JanuaryA medium chance of showers in the southwest, also over west Gippsland and the ranges. Slight chance of light showers for the remainder, clearing north of the Divide during the afternoon. Generally mild to warm with southwesterly winds, fresher near the coast.Thursday 15 JanuaryA medium chance of showers in the south, mainly near exposed coastal parts. Slight chance of light showers or drizzle for remaining areas on and south of the Divide. A mild and partly cloudy day, warmer and mainly sunny in the north, with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds throughout.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
