MELBOURNE - Jan 11/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge towards the New South Wales north coast, while a broad trough extends into the state from central Australia. Warm and humid air feeding into this trough is bringing showers or rain to most districts, which will ease during Monday as the trough weakens somewhat. Reintensification is expected to the west of New South Wales during Tuesday in response to an approaching upper-level system, generating a cold front which is forecast to bring further rain as it sweeps across the state later Tuesday and Wednesday. Another high moving in behind this should restore generally stable conditions at the end of the week. Forecast for the rest of SundayAreas of rain in most of districts, generally clearing from the southern inland. The chance of thunderstorms in the northwest. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Monday 12 JanuaryMostly fine through the southern and central inland. Patchy rain across the north, generally easing, although the chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the northwest. The chance of showers about the southern and central coasts and adjacent ranges. Southeast to northeasterly winds, freshening across southern and central areas.Tuesday 13 JanuaryRain areas in the west, extending through central and southeast districts during the day, with possible thunderstorms in the northwest. The chance of showers in the northeast. Northeast to northwesterly winds turning southwesterly in the west.Wednesday 14 JanuaryShowers or rain areas in eastern districts, and possibly central areas at first, contracting. Fine in the west. Northerly winds in the northeast, with a west to southwesterly change extending across the remainder.Thursday 15 JanuaryThe chance of showers east of the Divide, chiefly near the coastal fringe.
