Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 11/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system 1022 hPa is centred south of the Bight. A low pressure trough about the Northeast Pastoral will extend southwards over central and eastern districts during Sunday and Monday. A weak low embedded in this trough will develop further near Kangaroo Island Monday evening. This low will then deepen as it interacts with an upper trough overnight Monday into Tuesday before it moves southeastwards to be over Bass Strait by Tuesday evening.
Forecast for the rest of SundayPatchy rain developing developing north of Wudinna to Loxton. Isolated thunderstorms in the North East Pastoral this afternoon and evening. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds with moderate northwesterly winds in the far northeast until late afternoon.Monday 12 JanuaryAreas of rain developing over most parts of the State, with a medium chance of showers in the Pastoral districts west of about Oodnadatta to Tarcoola. Isolated thunderstorms east of about Oodnadatta to Tarcoola to Lameroo. Also slight chance of thunderstorms off the coast in the far west early in the morning. Mild to warm, hot in the very far northeast. Moderate to fresh southeast to northeast winds, shifting west to southwesterly in the west during the day.Tuesday 13 JanuaryAreas of rain east of Leigh Creek to Port Augusta, turning into showers by the afternoon. Also chance of showers west of about Oodnadatta to Tarcoola to Nullarbor, more likely east of Woomera to Streaky Bay. The chance of thunderstorms in the east during the morning. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, tending south to southeasterly in the west in the evening. Winds strong at times about the coasts.Wednesday 14 JanuaryThe chance of showers about the agricultural area, more likely about the South East districts as well as the southern half of Kangaroo Island. Mild to warm, hot in the far northwest. Moderate to fresh southeast to southwest winds, strong at times about southern coasts in the morning.Thursday 15 January
The chance of showers over the Lower South East, Kangaroo Island, Yorke Peninsula, Mount Lofty Ranges and the east coast of Eyre Peninsula. Mild to warm, hot in the far northwest. Moderate south to southeasterly winds, tending east to northeasterly in the far west.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Thursday are expected to be 10 to 30 mm east of a line Leigh Creek to Port Augusta to Neptune Island, with possible local falls to 50 mm over the Northeast Pastoral, Flinders and the Mid North. 5 to 10 mm further west but east of Oodnadatta to Streaky Bay. 2 to 5 mm further west but east of Ernabella to Ceduna as well as the far southwest west of Nullabor. Less than 2 mm is expected elsewhere.
Friday until SundayThe chance of showers over the South East districts on Friday, about the coastal areas on Saturday, then fine across the State on Sunday. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm to hot in the north. Southeast to northeasterly winds turning north to northwesterly ahead of a southwesterly change during Friday about the west, extending throughout by Saturday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Monday.Product IDS10033
