MELBOURNE - Jan 10/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow moving trough lies off the State's east coast, with a high pressure ridge extending across the south of Tasmania. A low pressure system will develop over central Australia by late today then intensify as it moves southeast, crossing the western parts of Victoria on Tuesday. On Wednesday a ridge of high pressure will build from the west. Forecast for the rest of SundayRain areas in the northeast and east Gippsland areas contracting slowly eastward during the day then easing to showers. Isolated morning showers near the central coast. A humid and mainly overcast day, though with increasing sunshine in the west. Mild conditions about the coast tending warmer inland. Light to moderate east to southeasterly winds, fresher about the coast.Fire Danger - Low-ModerateMonday 12 JanuarySlight to medium chance of showers about the eastern ranges and far southeast in the morning. Rain areas developing in the far northwest and extending eastward, reaching central parts and the northeast by evening. Mild to warm and humid with moderate to fresh northeasterly winds shifting northwesterly in the west later.Tuesday 13 JanuaryAreas of rain throughout, easing to showers from the west, clearing the northwest then central areas during the afternoon and evening. Mild to warm and humid, with freshening north to northeasterly winds shifting westerly during the day.Wednesday 14 JanuaryA medium chance of showers in the southwest, also over west Gippsland and the ranges. Slight chance of light showers for the remainder, clearing north of the Divide during the afternoon.
