MELBOURNE - Jan 10/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge towards the New South Wales north coast, while a broad trough extends from central Australia to the southeast of the state. Warm and humid air feeding into this trough is bringing rain to most western and southern districts, which is expected to ease later on the weekend as the trough shifts westwards. Later on Monday the trough is expected to deepen and begin moving eastwards again in response to an approaching upper-level system, crossing New South Wales during Tuesday and Wednesday followed by the next high. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayWidespread rain across the south and west, with moderate to heavy falls likely near the South Australian border. The chance of showers elsewhere, more likely about the tablelands. The chance of thunderstorms about the southern and central coasts, and adjacent ranges. Northeast to northwesterly winds, fresh in the far west and along the northern half of the coast, tending south to southeasterly across the south.Sunday 11 JanuaryRain areas in southern, central and northwestern districts, with moderate falls possible. The chance of thunderstorms in the northwest. A few showers in the northeast. Mainly northeast to southeasterly winds.Monday 12 JanuaryMostly fine through central districts. Showers in the east, mainly near the coast, and in the far west, with the chance of thunderstorms. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Tuesday 13 JanuaryThe chance of showers in most districts, more likely across the south. Northeast to northwesterly winds turning southwesterly in the west.Wednesday 14 JanuaryShowers in eastern districts, and possibly central areas at first. Fine in the west.
