ST. JOSEPH - Jan 9/15 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Jan 9.
WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW Compared to last week, grain and soybean bids were mixed. Soybeans posted gains on good export demand and forecast for dry conditions in parts of South America. Corn saw some pressure from increased producer selling and ethanol inventories. Wheat saw gains early in the week on concerns of winter kill in the Central U.S. as temperatures dropped near or below zero. However, pressure was noted later on a rising U.S. dollar and weak export trade. Wheat was mostly 8-28 cents lower. Corn was 13 cents lower to 19 cents higher. Sorghum was 5 cents lower. Soybeans were 24-33 cents higher. WHEAT: Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was 28 3/4 cents lower from 6.87 3/4-6.97 3/4 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 Soft Red winter rail bid was not quoted. St. Louis truck US No 2 Soft Red Winter terminal bid was 22 cents lower from 5.67-5.77 per bushel. Minneapolis and Duluth US No 1 Dark Northern Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent protein rail, was 8 1/2 to 28 1/2 cents lower from 7.08 1/2-7.58 1/2 per bushel. Portland US Soft White wheat rail was 22 3/4 cents lower to 7 cents higher from 6.45-6.82 per bushel. CORN: Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was 8 to 13 cents lower from 3.78- 3.84 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 3 1/4 to 19 1/4 cents higher from 3.77 1/4-3.79 1/4 per bushel. Omaha corn was steady to 6 cents lower at 3.74 per bushel. Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 4 1/4 cents higher from 3.72 1/4-3.93 1/4 per bushel. Toledo US No 2 rail Yellow corn was from 3.70 1/4-3.76 1/4 per bushel. Minneapolis US No 2 Yellow corn rail was 2 1/4 cents higher at 3.59 1/4 per bushel. OATS AND BARLEY: US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20 day was 1 1/2 cent lower from 3.17 1/4-3.52 1/4 per bushel. US No 3 or better rail malting Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of Minneapolis was steady at 7.35 per bushel. Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains and Barges-export was not available. SORGHUM: US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 5 cents lower at 7.04 per cwt. Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the farmer, fob elevator) was from 7.30-7.40 per cwt. OILSEEDS: Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans were 24 cents higher at 9.93 1/4 per bushel. Illinois Processors US No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 29 to 33 cents higher from 10.47 1/4-10.58 1/4 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 Yellow truck soybeans were 26 cents higher at 10.48 1/4 per bushel. Illinois 48 percent Soybean meal, processor rail bid was 4.40 to 19.40 lower from 397.20- 415.20 per ton.
