MELBOURNE - Jan 8/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough will linger near the NSW border on Friday and Saturday, as a tropical low deepens inland from Broome and moves towards northern South Australia. A related low pressure centre will develop south of South Australia by late Sunday and intensify as it moves southeast, with a related surface trough extending across the State on Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayRain areas and isolated thunderstorms extending across most districts, though only isolated showers over the far southwest. Moderate to heavy falls across inland areas, particularly about the ranges. Remaining humid. Generally cool in the south and mild across the north with moderate to locally fresh south to southeasterly winds. Warmer over the northeast and near in the far north with variable winds.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Saturday 10 JanuaryRain areas with some heavy falls possible, mainly over north and west. Isolated thunderstorms clearing in the northeast. A mild day with moderate to fresh southeast to northeast winds.Sunday 11 JanuaryRain areas with some heavy falls possible, mainly over north and west. A mild day with moderate to fresh east to northeast winds.Monday 12 JanuaryAreas of rain easing to showers and clearing from the northwest inland during the day.
