Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 8/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow-moving high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the New South Wales north coast, directing warm and humid tropical air over the state. A trough and frontal system is expected to reach the southwest of the state tonight and Friday. This next system will interact with moisture linked to a tropical low over northwest Western Australia leading to a low to deepen off South Australia over the weekend. Associated with this system will be a rain band, initially over South Australia, before entering the west of NSW on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayShowers and thunderstorms over southern districts and about the central ranges. A few showers on the far northern coast. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Fresh to strong northeasterly winds near the coast, easing. North to northwesterly winds inland, ahead of a southwest change in the southern inland.Friday 9 JanuaryShowers and thunderstorms in southern districts, and about the central ranges and coast during the afternoon, with isolated severe storms possible. Mostly fine remainder until rain develops in the northwest later in the day. Hot day in the west. Southwest to southeasterly winds in the south, and northwest to northeasterly winds across the remainder.Fire Danger -  Very high : Lower Central West Plains.Saturday 10 JanuaryWidespread rain in the west, moderate to heavy falls in the far west. Patchy rain or showers in the southeast and about the central ranges and coast with isolated thunderstorms. Mostly fine in the northeast. Northeast to northwesterly, fresh to strong in the west.Sunday 11 JanuaryRain areas in the south. Isolated showers in the north. Northeast to northwest winds, freshening in the west and along the coast.Monday 12 JanuaryIsolated showers in most districts but generally fine in the central north.
