Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 7/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea. A low pressure trough will develop over western Victoria this evening with a humid and unstable north to northeasterly airflow over Victoria. The trough will then move eastwards across the State later on Thursday, as a cold front moves across Tasmania. The trough will remain across northern Victoria on Friday and Saturday, as a tropical low deepens inland from Broome and moves towards northern South Australia. Another low will develop over south Australia on Saturday and Sunday and deepen as an upper level trough moves into the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, easing during the evening. A warm and humid evening with light to moderate north to northeasterly winds but milder near the coast with afternoon seabreezes.Thursday 8 JanuaryWidespread showers and scattered thunderstorms extending throughout and tending to areas of rain during the evening. Thunderstorms possibly severe in the south during the afternoon with heavy rain, damaging winds and large hail. Warm to hot and humid with moderate north to northwesterly winds shifting milder southwesterly from the west during the day.Fire Danger -  High to Very High.Friday 9 JanuaryRain areas and isolated thunderstorms extending across most districts, though only isolated showers over the southwest. Moderate to heavy falls in the the north. Mild to warm and humid with light to moderate southeast to easterly winds.Saturday 10 JanuaryRain areas with some heavy falls possible, mainly over north and west. Isolated thunderstorms possible in the far east. A mild day with moderate to fresh southeast to northeast winds.Sunday 11 JanuaryRain areas with some heavy falls possible, mainly over north and west.
