MELBOURNE - Jan 6/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow-moving high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the New South Wales north coast, directing warm and humid tropical air into a broad but fairly weak trough over the state's west. The inland trough is expected to weaken further today, before another trough moves into the west later Thursday and Friday. This next system is also likely to be very slow-moving and may linger over the region through the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayThe chance of showers and thunderstorms over the central and southern ranges, and adjacent slopes, mainly afternoon. The chance of the odd shower or two over the southern inland near the Victorian border. A few showers about the northern coast and ranges, mostly clearing by afternoon. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot day in the west. East to northeasterly winds, freshening about the central and southern coasts later in the day.Thursday 8 JanuaryShowers and thunderstorms developing over central and southern districts later in the day, more likely near the Victorian border. The chance of a brief shower on the northern coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot day in the west. East to northeasterly winds near the coast, freshening in southern and central areas.
