Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 6/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over northeast Victoria is weakening while a ridge of high pressure extends from southeast of the Bight, across Tasmania to the Tasman Sea. A low pressure trough will develop over western Victoria on Wednesday as a humid and unstable north to northeasterly airflow extends across the State. The trough will then move eastwards across the State later on Thursday, as a cold front moves across Tasmania. A low pressure trough is likely to develop across northern Victoria on Friday and Saturday, as a tropical low deepens inland from Broome and moves towards northern South Australia.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayLocal drizzle near the Gippsland coast. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the north and east. Light winds inland, easing seabreezes near the coast.Wednesday 7 JanuaryScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms extending throughout, mainly during the afternoon. Generally warm in the south and hot over the north. Humid with light to moderate north to northeasterly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger -  Generally high to very high.Thursday 8 JanuaryWidespread showers and local thunderstorms extending throughout. Warm to hot and humid with moderate north to northwesterly winds shifting milder southwesterly from the west during the day.Friday 9 JanuaryRain areas and isolated thunderstorms extending across most districts. Local heavy falls in the north. Mild to warm and humid with light to moderate southeast to easterly winds.Saturday 10 JanuaryRain areas.
