MELBOURNE - Jan 6/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow-moving high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the New South Wales north coast, directing warm and humid tropical air into a broad but fairly weak trough over the state's west. This trough is expected to weaken further during the next day or two, before another trough moves into the the southwest during Friday and Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdaySlight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms in most districts tending to high in the far southeastern inland. East to northeasterly winds.Wednesday 7 JanuaryMedium chance of showers and thunderstorms over central and southern districts. Slight chance of showers near the north coast and adjacent ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeasterly winds, freshening about the central and southern coasts.Thursday 8 JanuaryMedium chance of showers and thunderstorms over central and southern districts tending to high on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Slight chance of showers near the north coast and adjacent ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeasterly winds near the coast, freshening in southern and central areas. North to northwesterly winds inland, freshening in the south ahead of a late southwest change.Friday 9 JanuaryPartly cloudy over the northeastern inland. Slight to medium chance of showers elsewhere, with the chance of thunderstorms in the south. South to southeasterly winds in the south, and northwest to northeasterly winds across the remainder.Saturday 10 JanuaryPartly cloudy over the northeastern inland.
