Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 5/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
An almost stationary low pressure trough is over northeast Victoria and will remain in the vicinity during tonight and Tuesday. A ridge of high pressure extends from southeast of the Bight, across Tasmania to the Tasman Sea. A low pressure trough will develop over western Victoria on Wednesday as a humid and unstable north to northeasterly airflow extends across the State. The trough will then move eastwards across the State later on Thursday, as a cold front moves across Tasmania. A low pressure system will develop over northern South Australia on Friday, extending tropical moisture southeastwards over Victoria.
Forecast for the rest of MondayShowers and isolated thunderstorms over the northeast. Drizzle patches developing in Gippsland tonight. Mode`rate southeasterly seabreezes easing.Tuesday 6 JanuaryLocal morning drizzle in the south. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the east, mainly during the afternoon. Fine and mainly sunny over the northwest. Hot in the north, warm in the south with humid light to moderate east to southeasterly winds and fresh afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger -  Generally high tending low to moderate in Gippsland.Wednesday 7 JanuaryScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms extending throughout, mainly during the afternoon. Generally warm in the south and hot over the north. Humid with light north to northeasterly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Thursday 8 JanuaryWidespread showers and local thunderstorms extending throughout. Warm to hot and humid with moderate north to northwesterly winds shifting milder southwesterly from the west during the day.Friday 9 JanuaryRain areas and isolated thunderstorms extending across most districts.
