MELBOURNE - Jan 5/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow-moving high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards New South Wales north coast directing warm and humid tropical air into a low pressure trough over the western parts of the state. The trough is expected to deepen during Friday and Saturday. Forecast for the rest of MondaySlight chance of showers in the northeast and with the chance of thunderstorms near the far north coast. Medium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms elsewhere. Moderate northeast to southeast winds.Tuesday 6 JanuaryMedium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms in the southwestern half, slight to medium elsewhere. East to northeasterly winds.Wednesday 7 JanuaryMedium chance of showers and thunderstorms over central and southern districts. Slight chance of showers over the north coast and adjacent ranges. East to northeast winds.Thursday 8 JanuaryMedium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms in the southern and parts. Partly cloudy elsewhere apart from slight chance of a shower on the far north coast. Northeast to northwest winds ahead of a late southwest change in the far southwest.Friday 9 JanuaryPartly cloudy in the northeastern inland. Slight to medium chance of showers elsewhere with the chance of thunderstorms in the far south.
