MELBOURNE - Jan 4/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation An almost stationary low pressure trough is over northeast Victoria and will remain in the vicinity during Monday and Tuesday. A ridge of high pressure extends from southeast of the Bight, across Tasmania to the Tasman Sea. The trough will move to western Victoria on Wednesday as a humid and unstable north to northeasterly airflow extends across the State. The trough will then move eastwards across the State later on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayShowers and isolated thunderstorms developing over the northeast and also near the far northern border during the afternoon. Drizzle patches developing in Gippsland tonight. A generally sunny day elsewhere. Mild in the south but remaining warm in the north with light to moderate east to southeasterly winds and fresh afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger - Low to moderate in the southeast. High to very high elsewhere.Tuesday 6 JanuaryLocal morning drizzle in the south. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the east, mainly during the afternoon. Fine and generally sunny over the northwest. A generally warm day with light to moderate east to southeasterly winds and fresh afternoon coastal seabreezes.Wednesday 7 JanuaryScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms extending throughout, mainly during the afternoon. Generally warm in the south and hot over the north. Humid with light north to northeasterly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Thursday 8 JanuaryScattered showers and local thunderstorms extending throughout.
