MELBOURNE - Jan 4/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strengthening high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the northern New South Wales coast. This high is expected to be quite slow-moving over the next few days, drawing warm and increasingly humid north to northeasterly winds down from the tropics, leading to unsettled conditions in many districts. Forecast for the rest of MondayShowers and thunderstorms likely for most districts on and west of the ranges though generally fine about the northern ranges and adjacent western slopes. Medium chance of showers or drizzle patches along the coast with a thunderstorm possible in the far north. Early fog patches in the east. Mostly moderate northeast to southeast winds.Tuesday 6 JanuaryMedium chance of showers and thunderstorms over the southwest half, increasing to a high chance on the southwest slopes of the ranges and the southern inland, and a medium chance of showers and thunderstorms on the north coast. Slight chance of a shower over the central coast and adjacent ranges. East to northeasterly winds.Wednesday 7 JanuaryMedium chance of showers and thunderstorms over central and southern districts. Slight chance of showers over the north coast and adjacent ranges. East to northeast winds.Thursday 8 JanuaryMedium chance of showers and thunderstorms over the southeast and the far southern inland. Slight chance of a shower on the far north coast.
