Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 4/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure over the North East Pastoral district will remain near stationary before moving southwards on Tuesday. A high southwest of the Bight will move slowly eastwards on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayShowers and thunderstorms over the North East Pastoral and Flinders districts and the west of the North West Pastoral district. Areas of smoke haze over the northern Mount Lofty Ranges and southern parts of the Mid North. Light to moderate northerly winds in the far northeast, with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds elsewhere.Monday 5 JanuaryThe chance of showers and thunderstorms northeast of a line Tarcoola to Renmark, more likely northeast of Ernabella to Port Augusta to Yunta, highly likely in the Northeast Pastoral district north of Leigh Creek. Mild to warm about the southern coasts, hot to very hot elsewhere. Moderate northeast to southeasterly winds. Fresh sea breezes about the coasts during the afternoon.Tuesday 6 JanuaryThe chance of showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon north of Clare apart from the far northeast, more likely north of Port Augusta but southwest of a line Oodnadatta to Marree. Warm to hot about the coasts, hot to very hot inland. Light to moderate southeast to southeasterly winds, fresh about the coasts.Wednesday 7 JanuaryThe chance of showers and thunderstorms developing in the far north, more likely in the far northwest. Also chance of showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon south of Coober Pedy to Leigh Creek during the afternoon. Warm in the far northwest, but hot to very hot elsewhere. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, turning north to northeasterly in the afternoon and freshening in the west.Thursday 8 January
The chance of showers and thunderstorms extending to most areas across the State apart from northeast parts of the Northeast Pastoral. Showers and thunderstorms more likely in areas northwest of Coober Pedy to Oodnadatta as well as south of Tarcoola to Renmark. Mild to warm in the far northwest and the southern coasts, hot elsewhere. Light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, freshening the west. A milder, fresh southwest to southeasterly change about the coasts later during the afternoon.
Cumulative rainfall totals to midnight Wednesday are expected to be about 2 to 10 mm, locally reaching 10 to 20 mm with the thunderstorms, possibly reaching 20 to 50 mm in the far northwest.
Friday until SundayShowers and thunderstorms extending across the entire State over the weekend. Milder temperatures about the coastal areas with hotter conditions contracting to the northeast of the State.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Monday.Product IDS10033
