MELBOURNE - Jan 3/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strengthening high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the northern New South Wales coast. This high is expected to be quite slow-moving over the next few days, drawing warm and increasingly humid northerly winds down from the tropics, leading to unsettled conditions in many districts. Showers and thunderstorms are likely to peak on Sunday and Monday as the next trough moves into New South Wales from the west. Forecast for the rest of SundayShowers and thunderstorms in most areas, less likely about the far northeast, but becoming more likely about the southern and central tablelands and adjacent western slopes during the afternoon and possibly severe. A hot day in the west. Humid northeast winds before a south to southeast change in the south, fresh to strong along the coastMonday 5 JanuaryShowers and thunderstorms on the central and southern ranges and all of the inland, and a medium chance of showers and thunderstorms over the far northeast. Slight chance of a showers over the remainder of the coast and the northern ranges. . Northeast to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 6 JanuaryMedium chance of showers and thunderstorms over the southwest half, increasing to a high chance on the southwest slopes of the ranges. Slight chance of a shower over the central and northern coasts and adjacent ranges, increasing to the medium chance in the far north. East to northeasterly winds.Wednesday 7 JanuaryMedium chance of showers and thunderstorms over central and southern districts.
