MELBOURNE - Jan 2/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure near a line from Ceduna to Kingscote will move east today, reaching a line from Adelaide to Mount Gambier around midday then Leigh Creek to Renmark by evening. A high will develop southwest of the Bight later on Saturday and move slowly eastwards on Sunday and Monday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayThe chance of showers and thunderstorms extending across most parts of the State, more likely in the northeast and over and east of the ranges during the afternoon. Hot to very hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds, ahead of a milder fresh southerly change near western and southern coasts this morning extending to a line near Yunta to Oodnadatta by late evening. Areas of raised dust inland.Sunday 4 JanuaryThe chance of showers and thunderstorms north of a line Renmark to Coober Pedy, more likely northeast of about Leigh Creek and the Flinders Ranges. Mild to warm about the coasts, hot to very hot inland. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds extending throughout all districts except the far northeast.Monday 5 JanuaryThe chance of showers and thunderstorms north of a line Pukatja to Roxby Downs to Yunta, more likely northeast of about Marree and over the Flinders Ranges. Warm to hot about the coasts, hot to very hot inland. Light to moderate southeasterly winds, fresh about the coasts.Tuesday 6 January The chance of showers and thunderstorms northeast of Lameroo to Tarcoola to Marree, less likely around the far north east corner. Warm to hot about the coasts, hot to very hot inland. Light to moderate east to southeasterly winds, fresh about the coasts. Cumulative rainfall totals to midnight Tuesday are expected to be less than 2 mm, with local falls of 5 to 10 mm with thunderstorms, possibly reaching 10 to 30 mm northeast of about Leigh Creek. Wednesday until FridayThe chance of showers and thunderstorms over most parts of the state during the period apart from the far northeast.
