USDA National Grain Review

ST. JOSEPH - Jan 2/15 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Jan 2.

WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW
   Compared to last week, grains all closed lower for the holiday shortened
week.  Wheat closed lower as buying support has calmed down and concerns with
the Russian economy have now turned to old news.  With wheat near five month
highs has some thinking producers could be in a selling mood.  Corn closed with
losses for the shortened holiday week with end of the year selling, corn still
has good feed demand and ethanol demand.  Soybeans closed with slight to modest
losses on favorable growing conditions in South America which also pressured the
corn market.  Wheat for the week closed mostly 17-27 cents lower.  Corn traded
5-13 cents lower with grain sorghum closing 19 cents lower.  Soybeans closed 1-9
cents lower.
   WHEAT:  Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was 17
1/2 cents lower from 7.16 1/2-7.26 1/2 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 Soft Red
winter rail bid was not quoted.  St. Louis truck US No 2 Soft Red Winter
terminal bid was 22-24 cents lower from 5.89-5.99 per bushel.  Minneapolis and
Duluth US No 1 Dark Northern Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent protein rail, was 9
1/2 cents higher to 20 1/2 lower from 7.17-87.87 per bushel.  Portland US Soft
White wheat rail was at 6.67 3/4-6.75 per bushel.
   CORN:  Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was 8-10 cents lower from 3.86-
3.97 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 8 3/4-10 3/4 cents
lower from 3.74-3.78 per bushel.  Omaha corn was 8-13 cents lower from 3.74-3.80
per bushel.  Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 5 3/4-12 3/4 cents lower from 3.68-
3.89 per bushel.  Toledo US No 2 rail Yellow corn was not available.
Minneapolis US No 2 Yellow corn rail was 10 3/4 cents lower at 3.57 per bushel.
   OATS AND BARLEY:  US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20
day was 4 cents lower from 3.18 3/4-3.53 3/4 per bushel.  US No 3 or better
rail malting Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of Minneapolis was steady at
7.35 per bushel.  Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains and Barges-export was not
available.
   SORGHUM:  US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 19 cents lower at 7.09 per
cwt.  Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the
farmer, fob elevator) was not available.
   OILSEEDS:  Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans were 1/2 cent lower at 9.69
1/4 per bushel.  Illinois Processors US No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 9 1/2
cents lower from 10.14 1/4-10.29 1/4 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 Yellow
truck soybeans were 1 1/2 cents lower at 10.22 1/4 per bushel.  Illinois 48
percent Soybean meal, processor rail bid was 7.80-9.80 lower from 416.60-419.60
per ton.  Central Illinois Crude Soybean oil processor bid was 29 points higher
to 22 points lower from 31.47-32.97 cents per pound.
