Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 2/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strengthening high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the northern New South Wales coast, while a trough over central parts of the state is weakening. This high is expected to be quite slow-moving over the next few days, drawing warm and increasingly humid northerly winds down from the tropics, leading to unsettled conditions in many districts. Showers and thunderstorms are likely to peak on Sunday and Monday as the next trough moves into New South Wales from the west.
Forecast for the rest of FridayShowers and possible thunderstorms in most northern and eastern districts, becoming more likely about the ranges and western slopes during the afternoon. Fine in the southwest. A hot to very hot in the west. Humid near the coast. Mainly northwest to northeasterly winds, freshening along parts of the coast in the afternoon.Saturday 3 JanuaryThe chance of showers or thunderstorms in most districts, less likely about the western slopes. A hot to very hot day in the west. Humid north to northeasterly winds, freshening along southern and central parts of the coast.Fire Danger -  Very High: Lower Central West Plains, Eastern and Southern Riverina and South Western.Sunday 4 JanuaryShowers and thunderstorms in most areas, less likely about the northeast, and becoming more likely about the southern and central tablelands and adjacent western slopes during the afternoon. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Monday 5 JanuaryShowers and thunderstorms in most areas, apart from the southwest, and becoming more likely over the central west. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 6 JanuaryShowers and thunderstorms from the southeast to the northwest of the state. Showers over the northeast coast and adjacent ranges.
