Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 2/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure near the western border and western coasts will move across the West Coast district and Eyre Peninsula during the afternoon and evening, extending to southern and gulf coasts during the evening. The trough will remain near stationary overnight then move northeastwards on Saturday to be near a line Yunta to Oodnadatta by late evening. A high will develop southwest of the Bight on Saturday and move slowly eastwards on Sunday and Monday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayThe chance of showers and thunderstorms northeast of Moomba and in the far west. Moderate to fresh northerly winds with a milder southerly change over western coasts extending over Eyre Peninsular and central and eastern coastal districts during the evening.Saturday 3 JanuaryThe chance of showers and thunderstorms across most parts of the State except north of a line Pukatja to Tarcoola to Oodnadatta, more likely in the far northeast and over and east the ranges during the afternoon. Hot to very hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds, ahead of a milder fresh southerly change near the coasts extending to a line near Yunta to Oodnadatta by late evening. Areas of raised dust inland.Sunday 4 JanuaryThe chance of showers and thunderstorms north of a line Renmark to Coober Pedy, more likely northeast of about Leigh Creek and the Flinders Ranges. Mild to warm about the coasts, hot to very hot inland. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds extending throughout all districts except the far northeast.Monday 5 JanuaryThe chance of showers and thunderstorms north of a line Pukatja to Roxby Downs to Yunta, more likely northeast of about Marree and over the Flinders Ranges. Warm to hot about the coasts, hot to very hot inland. Light to moderate southeasterly winds, fresh about the coasts.Tuesday 6 January
The chance of showers and thunderstorms northeast of Lameroo to Tarcoola to Marree, less likely around the far north east corner. Warm to hot about the coasts, hot to very hot inland. Light to moderate east to southeasterly winds, fresh about the coasts.
Cumulative rainfall totals to midnight Tuesday are expected to be less than 2 mm, with local falls of 5 to 10 mm with thunderstorms, possibly reaching 10 to 30 mm northeast of about Leigh Creek.
Wednesday until FridayThe chance of showers and thunderstorms over most parts of the state during the period apart from the far northeast. Hot to very hot throughout on Wednesday ahead of a milder southerly change in the south on Thursday, extending to about Renmark to Tarcoola on Friday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Saturday.Product IDS10033
