Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 31/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high 1018 hPa over western Victoria will move rapidly eastwards, reaching the Tasman Sea this evening. A trough of low pressure will reach the western border late on Thursday and move slowly eastwards, reaching a line Mount Gambier to Wudinna early on Saturday and Yunta to Oodnadatta late Saturday evening.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine. Mild to warm in the south, grading to hot in the north and west. Light and variable winds, with moderate coastal sea breezes until mid evening.Thursday 1 JanuaryFine apart from the slight chance of morning showers over the Lower South East and southern coast of Kangaroo Island. A slight chance of early thunder about the Lower South East coast. Warm near southern coasts, hot over the remainder, grading to very hot in the north and west. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, tending moderate to fresh south to southeast near the coast in the afternoon and evening.Friday 2 JanuaryVery hot throughout with freshening northerly winds bringing areas of raised dust in the far west, ahead of a milder, fresh and gusty southerly change in the far west later. Possible dry thunderstorms developing during the afternoon over the west of the Northwest Pastoral district. The chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening northeast of Moomba.Saturday 3 JanuaryThe chance of showers and thunderstorms across the State, more likely in the far northeast. Hot to very hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds, ahead of a milder fresh southerly change extending to a line near Yunta to Oodnadatta late evening.Sunday 4 January
The chance of showers and thunderstorms north of a line Lameroo to Kimba, more likely northeast of about Leigh Creek.
Cumulative rainfall totals to midnight Sunday are expected to be less than 5 mm, with local falls of 5 to 20 mm northeast of about Leigh Creek with thunderstorms.
Monday until WednesdayThe chance of showers and thunderstorms northeast of Yunta to Roxby Downs, more likely northeast of Leigh Creek, then fine and becoming hot to very hot throughout on Wednesday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Thursday.Product IDS10033
