MELBOURNE - Dec 29/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front which moved through the west and southeast of the state yesterday and overnight is expected to weaken into a trough over the northeast of the state early today. A high pressure system will move into the Tasman Sea Wednesday and will intensify and become slow-moving, with hot, humid northerlies developing over the state late in the week. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayEarly fog patches in the northeast. Slight to medium chance of afternoon showers in the northeast. Chance of afternoon thunderstorms on the northern ranges and slopes. Slight to medium chance of showers on the south coast in the evening. Sunny elsewhere. Northerly winds in the northeast, and a southeast to southwesterly change extending across the remainder.Fire Danger - Very high: Greater Hunter, Greater Sydney, North Western, Upper and Lower Central West Plains.Wednesday 31 DecemberMedium chance of showers along the coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of thunderstorms on the north coast. Partly cloudy west of Divide. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Thursday 1 JanuaryMedium chance of showers in the northeast with the chance of thunderstorms. Slight chance of showers on the south and central coasts.
