MELBOURNE - Dec 29/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak front moves over southern coasts on Tuesday morning, followed by a high pressure system developing over the Bight. This high will move slowly eastwards, reaching the Tasman sea late on Wednesday. A trough of low pressure will approach the western border on Thursday, and move slowly eastwards over the far west of the State on Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdaySlight chance of showers about the southern agricultural area, clearing early afternoon. Cool to mild about southern coasts grading to hot in the far north. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh at times about southern coasts in the morning.Wednesday 31 DecemberFine. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot in the north and west. Light variable winds.Thursday 1 JanuaryFine apart from the slight chance of morning showers near the Lower South East coast and southern coast of Kangaroo Island. Warm near southern coasts, hot over the remainder, but grading to very hot in the far west and northwest. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds.Friday 2 January Very hot throughout with freshening northerly winds ahead of a milder, fresh and gusty southerly change in the far west later. Possible dry thunderstorms developing during the afternoon west of Ceduna to Ernabella. The chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening northeast of Moomba. Cumulative rainfall totals to midnight Friday are expected to be less than 1 mm south of about Adelaide. 1 to 5 mm is expected with shower and thunderstorm activity northeast of Moomba. Saturday until MondayThe chance of showers and thunderstorms extending to most districts on Saturday, contracting northeastwards during Sunday, to be confined to areas northeast of about Broken Hill to Giles on Monday.
