MELBOURNE - Dec 29/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough and cloud band are weakening and moving away from northeast New South Wales. A low pressure trough lies over the west of the state ahead of a cold front is expected to move through the west and southeast of the state today before weakening into another trough over the northeast of the state early Tuesday. A high pressure system will move into the Tasman Sea Wednesday and become slow moving and intensify, with hot, humid northerlies developing over the state late in the week. Forecast for the rest of MondaySlight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms in the eastern half. Partly cloudy in the southwest. Northwest to northeasterly winds turning south to southwesterly in the west and southeast.Tuesday 30 DecemberMedium chance of showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Slight to medium chance of showers on the south coast later. Sunny elsewhere. Northerly winds in the northeast, and a southeast to southwesterly change extending across the remainder.Fire Danger - very high:Greater Hunter, Greater Sydney, North Western, Upper and Lower Central West Plains.Wednesday 31 DecemberMedium to high chance of showers along the coasts and adjacent ranges. The chance of thunderstorms on the north coast. Partly cloudy west of Divide. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Thursday 1 JanuaryMedium chance of showers in the northeast with the chance of thunderstorms. Slight chance of showers on the south and central coasts. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Hot day in the west. North to northeasterly winds near the coast. Variable winds inland.Friday 2 JanuaryScattered showers and thunderstorms over the northeast third. Isolated showers and storms possible remaining northern and eastern districts. Fine in the southwest. Hot in the west.
