Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 28/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front south of the Bight is expected to reach western Victoria on Monday morning then push rapidly east over central districts in the middle of the day, to reach the far east in the late afternoon. Another cold front will cross southern Victoria on Tuesday morning with the next high developing in the Bight later in the day. This new high will move across Victoria on Wednesday, New Years Eve, and will be located in the Tasman Sea at night. A weak front will move across Tasmania and southern Victoria on Thursday, with a new high building over Tasmania at night.
Forecast for the rest of MondayShowers and isolated thunderstorms developing from the west, mostly over southern and mountain areas. Showers contracting to the coast during the late afternoon and evening with thunderstorms clearing. Warm, fresh to locally strong north to northwesterly winds ahead of a cool, gusty southwesterly change extending from the west in the morning, reaching central areas around the middle of the day then the east in the late afternoon.Fire Danger -  High to very high.Tuesday 30 DecemberScattered showers over southern and mountain areas. Dry over the north. Cool to mild in the south, warm in the northwest, with moderate to fresh west to southwest winds, stronger about the coast.Wednesday 31 DecemberFine. Mild in the south, warm in the north. Light to moderate southwest to southerly winds, easing from the west and tending more easterly later.Thursday 1 JanuaryIsolated morning showers in the southwest. Cool to mild in the southwest, warm in the east and hot in the northwest.
