MELBOURNE - Dec 28/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak ridge will remain over the Bight, as a front moves over the southern agricultural area on Monday, followed by another weaker front across southern coasts on Tuesday morning. A high pressure system will develop over the Bight on Tuesday, and then move eastwards to reach the Tasman sea later Wednesday. A trough of low pressure will develop near the western border on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayThe slight chance of late afternoon showers over the far northeast, otherwise fine. Mild to warm with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Monday 29 DecemberSlight chance of showers over the agricultural area, increasing to a medium chance over the southern agricultural area and a high chance in the Lower South East. The chance of thunderstorms near the Lower South East coast early morning. Showers contracting to coastal parts of the South East districts during the afternoon. Cool to mild about southern coasts grading to hot in the far north with light to moderate southwest to northwest winds, becoming fresh southwest to southerly during the day.Tuesday 30 DecemberSlight chance of showers south of about Adelaide, clearing early afternoon. Cool to mild about southern coasts grading to hot in the far north. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh at times about southern coasts in the morning.Wednesday 31 DecemberFine. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot in the north and west. Light variable winds.Thursday 1 January Fine apart from the slight chance of showers near the Lower South East coast and southern coast of Kangaroo Island. Mild to warm near southern coasts, hot over the remainder, but grading to very hot in the far west and northwest. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals to midnight Thursday are expected to be less than 1 mm over the agricultural area, increasing to up to 2 mm over the southern agricultural area, with possible falls of up to 5 mm about the Lower South East coast. Friday until SundayHot to very hot throughout with freshening northerly winds ahead of a milder, fresh and gusty southerly change in the far west late Friday extending over western districts on Saturday, reaching the far northeast of the State later on Sunday.
