Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 27/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cloud and rain band are moving across northeastern New South Wales, while a weak high pressure ridge extends across southern and western parts. A low pressure trough will develop over the west of the state on Sunday and the rain band will contract further northeast and clear later in the day. During Monday a cold front is expected to move through the west and southeast of the state before weakening into another trough over the northeast of the state early Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayPartly cloudy in the southwest. Very high chance of rain in the northeast and medium to high chance of showers elsewhere.The chance of thunderstorms in the central west. East to northeasterly winds in the east, freshening along the coast,light and variable winds in the west.Monday 29 DecemberThe chance of showers and thunderstorms in the north northeast, mainly about the northern tablelands. Possible showers or thunderstorms over the southern inland, otherwise fine in the west. Mainly northeasterly winds near the coast, and northwest to southwesterly winds inland, becoming fresh and gusty in the afternoon.Tuesday 30 DecemberMedium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Slight to medium chance of showers in the southeast with possible thunderstorms on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Northerly winds in the northeast, and a southeast to southwesterly change extending across the remainder.Wednesday 31 DecemberSlight to medium chance of showers on the south and central coasts and adjacent ranges. Medium to high chance of showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges with the chance of thunderstorms. Partly cloudy west of Divide. Northeast to southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Sunday.Product IDN10031
