MELBOURNE - Dec 26/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure will remain over over southern Victoria tonight and Saturday while a weak cold front rapidly crosses Tasmania. A low pressure trough will extend from the north into western Victoria on Sunday afternoon ahead of a cold front which is expected to reach western Victoria about lunchtime Monday then push rapidly east over central districts late in the afternoon to reach the far east late in the evening. Another cold front will cross southern Victoria on Tuesday and a low will deepen rapidly over the southern Tasman Sea. Forecast for the rest of FridayFine and cool. Generally clear inland with light to moderate southwest to southerly wind.Saturday 27 DecemberFine and generally sunny. A mild to warm day with light to moderate southerly winds, freshening about the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger - Generally Moderate to High.Sunday 28 DecemberFine and sunny over western half of the State, but isolated showers and thunderstorms developing over the east during the afternoon. A generally warm day with light to moderate northerly winds but milder seabreezes developing about the coast during the afternoon.Monday 29 DecemberShowers developing, mostly over southern and mountain areas. Isolated thunderstorms over central and eastern districts. Warm fresh to locally strong north to northwesterly winds ahead of a cool gusty southwesterly change extending from the west around midday across central areas late in the afternoon then the east in the evening.Tuesday 30 DecemberScattered showers over southern and mountain areas. Dry over the far northwest.
