MELBOURNE - Dec 25/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure over the far northeast of the State will move into southwest Queensland on Friday morning. A cold front will move across the south of the State on today. A new ridge of high pressure will develop south of the Bight on Friday and extend to the Lower South East coast on the weekend. A second front will move across southern coasts late on Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPatchy rain in the northeast interior tending to areas of rain in the far northeast, contracting northeastwards and clearing by evening. The slight chance of showers about southern coasts, extending over the southern agricultural area and west coasts during the morning, more likely about southern coasts and ranges, then contracting to coasts during the evening. Cool in the south, grading to hot in the northeast. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Friday 26 DecemberThe slight chance of light showers about southern and western coasts during the early morning, otherwise fine. Cool near southern coasts, grading to hot in the far northeast. Moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.Saturday 27 DecemberFine and mostly sunny. Mild in the south, grading to hot in the north. Moderate south to southeast winds and fresh afternoon coastal sea breezes.Sunday 28 December Fine and mostly sunny. Warm to hot in the south, hot in the north. Light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes. Cumulative rainfall totals to midnight Sunday are expected to be less than 2 mm, reaching 2 to 5 mm about parts of the southern coasts and 5 to 15 mm northeast of Moomba. Monday until WednesdaySlight chance of showers about southern and western coasts late on Monday evening and Tuesday morning then a fine day on Wednesday. Warm to hot on Monday then becoming cool to mild from Tuesday.
