Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 23/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand is moving slowly east maintaining a ridge over northeast New South Wales, and directing warm and humid tropical air into a broad low pressure trough over western New South Wales. During Wednesday the trough will deepen and move to the east as a cold front moves to the south of the state. Another cold front will move through southeastern Australia during Friday and the trough is expected to move to the northeast of the state.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayShowers and thunderstorms in eastern, central and northern districts, mainly afternoon, more likely about the ranges. Showers on the southern and central coasts. Partly cloudy in the southwest. Northwest to northeasterly winds, tending southerly over the southern inland and along southern and central parts of the coast.Thursday 25 DecemberShowers and thunderstorms in eastern and central districts, and in the northern inland; mainly afternoon, most likely about the central and northern ranges. Mostly sunny in the southwest. Northwest to northeasterly winds turning southerly in the west and south.Friday 26 DecemberShowers and thunderstorms in the east and central districts and in the northern inland. Showers over the southern coast and east ranges. Mostly sunny in the west. Northeast to northwest winds, ahead of a southwest to southeast change extending from the south.Saturday 27 DecemberShowers and thunderstorms over the northern ranges and slopes. Showers along the eastern ranges and slopes. North to northwest winds at first in the northeast.
