MELBOURNE - Dec 22/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system near New Zealand is moving slowly east maintaining a ridge to the northwest and directing warm and humid tropical air into a broad low pressure trough over western New South Wales. During Tuesday the trough will deepen and move to the east as a cold front moves through the south of the state. Another cold front will move through southeastern Australia during Friday and the trough is expected to move to the northeast of the state. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayShowers and thunderstorms in most districts, except the northeast, more likely about the central and southern slopes and ranges. Northwest to northeasterly winds, fresh to strong along the coast, turning southerly in the southwest later.Fire Danger - Very High: Upper and Lower Central West Plains, Southern Slopes, Southern and Eastern Riverina, Central Ranges.Wednesday 24 DecemberShowers and thunderstorms in eastern, central and northern districts, mainly afternoon, more likely about the ranges. Partly cloudy in the southwest. Northwest to northeasterly winds, tending southerly over the southern inland and along southern and central parts of the coast.Thursday 25 DecemberShowers and thunderstorms in eastern and central districts, and in the northern inland; mainly afternoon, most likely about the central and northern ranges. Mostly sunny in the southwest.
