MELBOURNE - Dec 21/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is drifting slowly east, while a broad trough lies near the western border of New South Wales. The deepening of this trough during the next day or two, assisted by an influx of warm and humid tropical air, is expected to bring a period of unsettled weather which will affect most districts. It is likely that the trough will become more mobile during the second half of the week, shifting towards the northeast in response to an approaching upper-level system. Forecast for the rest of MondayFine along the coast, and in the far west. The chance of showers and thunderstorms elsewhere, becoming more likely about the southern and central ranges during the afternoon. Hot day in the west. North to northeasterly winds, becoming fresh to strong along the coast.Fire Danger - Very High: Lower Central West Plains and Southern Riverina.Tuesday 23 DecemberShowers and thunderstorms in most districts, except the northeast. Northwest to northeasterly winds, fresh to strong along the coast, turning southerly in the southwest later.Wednesday 24 DecemberShowers and thunderstorms in eastern, central and northern districts, mainly afternoon. Fine in the southwest. Generally northwest to northeasterly winds, tending southerly over the southern inland and along southern and central parts of the coast.Thursday 25 DecemberShowers and thunderstorms in eastern and central districts, mainly afternoon. Fine and mostly sunny in the west.
