MELBOURNE - Dec 21/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system off the New South Wales coast will drift slowly east during the coming days, while a trough develops over the state's west. The deepening of this trough early in the new week, assisted by an influx of warm and humid tropical air, is expected to bring unsettled weather to many districts during the coming days. It is likely that the trough will become more mobile during the second half of the week, shifting towards the northeast in response to an approaching upper-level system. Forecast for the rest of SundayMedium chance of showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Possible shower or thunderstorm about the far southern ranges. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. East to northeasterly winds in the east, fresh along the coast. Mostly light and variable winds in the west.Monday 22 DecemberFine along the coast, and in the far west. Medium chance of showers and thunderstorms elsewhere, mainly afternoon. Hot day in the west. North to northeasterly winds, fresh to strong along the coast.Fire Danger - very high:Lower Central West Plains and Southern RiverinaTuesday 23 DecemberShowers and thunderstorms across much of the state, although less likely in the far northeast and far southwest. Northwest to northeasterly winds, fresh to strong along the coast, turning southerly in the far southwest later.Wednesday 24 DecemberShowers and thunderstorms across much of the state, although less likely in the far west and on the far north coast. Generally northwest to northeasterly winds, shifting southerly over the southern inland and along southern and central parts of the coast.Thursday 25 DecemberShowers and thunderstorms over the northeast half. Fine and mostly sunny in the southwest.
